Artist's Statement: "When we look at art, we are drawn into a perception. Visual perception, at times, can lead us in the way we respond to an action, event, or physical experience. To 'look' refers to merely turning our vision towards an object. To 'see' what we are looking at allows us to go beyond and get to the depths of its potential.
As I create a painting, it is seeing beyond the obvious. The process, for me, is about moving past the general perception of the piece I am currently painting. When I am working on a landscape, whether on location or in my studio, I see the vast magnificent spaces. At time, I feel the emotion or sense of a particular place. I find myself engaged not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually." |
